Promising week for the Montefeltro horses

It was a busy week for Montefeltro Racing with all three of our horses running on consecutive days.
Attention Seeker started us off at Beverley on Tuesday and ran his best race of the season so far. It wasn’t a big surprise as he’d been working a lot better than he’d been showing on the track (“dismal” – Racing Post, Timeform squiggle!), and we were trying him right handed for the first time. He stayed 10 furlongs well and we wouldn’t be afraid to try 12f next, but what we think could be the key to him is easier ground. Juvenile hurdling is a possibility again.
On Wednesday My O My continued her consistent run of form with a 3rd place at Bath. We weren’t sure about the drop in trip but she coped with it well. It’d be lovely to find a race for her – she really tries!
Finally, our highest profile runner so far was Cotton Bud at York’s Dante meeting. We thought she would improve for the step up in trip from her Doncaster win (and she probably did), but it was a very hot handicap and a staying on 6th was as good as she was. Shaun is confident she’ll improve for some sun on her back and a bit more time, and she remains an exciting prospect. York is a fantastic track to have a runner and we had a really memorable afternoon with all the owners that travelled up.
A first winner for Cotton Bud and Montefeltro Racing!

Cotton Bud got her season off to the perfect start with an impressive win at Doncaster. After being settled in last place she came with a beautifully smooth run to lead a furlong out and despite looking green, kept on well to the line.
After the race, jockey Daniel Tudhope said: “She just took a bit of time to find her feet but I always felt like I had them covered. She’s a very honest, very sound horse, and I’d imagine the more time you give her the better she’ll be”.
She had done plenty of work at Shaun’s but this really was just a starting point for her and we’re excited to think where she might end up later in the season. She’ll head to York next for a race at the Dante meeting if the ground’s not too quick.
Shares in Cotton Bud are available at £425 for 1% with monthly fees £23.
